Fusion Garage unveils Grid 4 smartphone running GridOS

News - By: SPBlast! Staff - August 15, 2011

Fusion Garage has announced the Grid 4 smartphone running GridOS. What is GridOS? It is a new operating system built on top of Android. This means that Android apps run on GridOS without any alteration by the developer. The company explains it on their website as follows:

"GridOS was built leveraging an android kernel. It was built on top of Android. Similar to how Apple built Mac from Unix BSD. GridOS is highly secure and scalable."

Specs:

4 inch (800 x 480) display
Qualcomm MSM8255 1GHz processor
512MB of RAM
16GB of storage
5-megapixel autofocus with LED flash rear camera (720p video)
0.3-megapixel front facing camera
GridOS

The specs aren't all that impressive compared to other phones these days, but you can pick up the Grid4 for $399 off contract. That is a really good price for an off contract phone. It should be available in Q4 this year.

By the way, they also make a 10-inch tablet.
