European market research firm ARCchart is speculating that Nokia may drop Symbian as the operating system for its phone. The firm speculates that ever since the other partners in the Symbian partnership blocked Nokia's bid to purchase Psion's 32% stake in the company, Nokia has been looking in other directions.
ARCchart sites Nokia's deal with Microsoft to license the ActiveSync system as well as Nokia's 770 tablet device that runs Linux.
Whether or not this will actually happen is unclear. If it does, this would be big news for Symbian because Nokia is the dominant supplier of Symbian handsets. Stay tuned.
