Dropbox has acquired startup app company Mailbox. Mailbox makes an iPhone mail app that promises to change the way you use email. Dropbox says they see eye to eye with Mailbox and they both want to save users a lot of pain, so they bought them. They announced the move on the company blog.
It looks like Dropbox will try to compete head to head with Google and other companies who provide a suite of apps. Although they have not announced how they will use Mailbox, it seems clear that they will integrate it into Dropbox in the future.
