Firefox for iOS will not be a reality unless Apple allows it to use its own rendering engine. As you may know Apple does not allow third party browsers to use their own rendering engine. Whether it is Chrome, Dolphin, or anyone else, they must use Safari's engine. This is a big road block for Firefox and they say they won't be coming to iOS unless Apple changes its policy.

The sticking point for Mozilla is not being able to carry over its sophisticated rendering and javascript engines to iOS. Essentially, the organization doesn't feel like it can build the browser it wants to for Apple's platform, Sullivan told CNET.
