At the launch event for BlackBerry 10, RIM CEO, Thorsten Heins, announced the company was changing its name. No longer would a company called Research in Motion make the BlackBerry smartphone. Mr. Heins wants to reboot the company and have one brand, one name.
RIM's ticker symbol will now change from RIMM to BBRY.
So the big question is what do we call the new phone. Is it a BlackBerry Z10 made by BlackBerry? In other words, the BlackBerry BlackBerry Z10? Or, is the phone just a Z10? Does it matter? It's going to take awhile to get used to this one name but it's probably a smart thing for RIM to go through a name change. The company is very far behind its competitors and it needs a fresh start.
