Microsoft currently has 51 retails stores across the US and Canada, and the company announced plans to open six more stores in the coming year. According to postings in Microsoft's Careers website, the company is looking for people to work in stores in Detroit and Honolulu.
Honolulu, Hawaii would be a fantastic location for Microsoft. Oahu's population is over 1 million people, and has a constant stream of tourists who love to shop. Honolulu has historically been good for retailers as companies like Radio Shack, Costco, K-Mart, and Wal-Mart, and CompUSA have all reported their Hawaii stores to be their top revenue stores at one time or another. People in Hawaii love to spend money!
Detroit is an interesting choice considering the economic decline in the city. Microsoft obviously has some reason they want to be there and hopefully the store will be popular.
No details about when the stores would open is available.
