Apple just released the latest version of iOS to its users on the 19th, and bragged about all of the improvements in the iPhone 5 keynote. Is iOS 6 really better than iOS 5? According to mobile customer research firm On Device, iPhone customer satisfaction with iOS 6 is lower than iOS 5. In fact it's the first time customer satisfaction has gone down with the release of a new iPhone.
In a survey of just under 16,000 iPhone owners On Device found those with iOS 6 were slightly less satisfied with their devices than those with iOS 5. The drop was small, but still a big deal for Apple. The controversial decision to drop Google Maps data in favor of their own Maps is likely a key. Also, upgrade issues including battery drain, missing ringtones, iTunes Match and other issues likely contributed to the lower rating. iOS 6 was definitely not the smoothest upgrade Apple has ever released.
