Apple held its education event in New York City today to let the world know the company is going to try to revolutionize the educational market. Speaking at the Guggenheim Museum, Apple’s VP of marketing Phil Schiller announced Apple's strategy to go after education and textbooks by bringing interactive textbooks to the iPad.
Apple introduced iBooks 2, a new category for textbooks the iBookstore, iBooks Auther tools for teachers and students, and a do-it-yourself digital book creator.

Textbooks appear on the shelf, and then you tap to launch. The books occupy the full screen and can be paired with embedded video content and introductory movies. Multitouch is used to navigate textbook pages and can also help manipulate integrated 3-D models for biology books, for example.
