Apple asked Google not to use multi-touch in Android

News - By: pdaBlast! Staff - February 11, 2009

Apple is proud of their multi-touch technology and they don't want competitors using it. According to Venture Beat, Apple asked Google not to use multi-touch in the first Android phone, the T-Mobile G1, and they complied.

It's too bad too because one of the bigger complaints about the G1 is that its touch screen doesn't use multi-touch.

It looks like Google wanted to avoid a legal battle. Palm doesn't seem to be taking tips from Google as they appear to be going ahead with plans to incorporate multi-touch into their upcoming Palm Pre phone. Rumors are already flying about a legal battle that will take place if Palm goes ahead with its plans.
