This review of the Seidio 2400 mAh Extended Battery for the Treo 650, 700p, 700w, and 700wx will be short and sweet. Instead of a review, this is really a plea to simply purchase one. You won't regret it.

With all the gadgets I've owned over the years (a lot!) I've never liked using extended batteries because they usually stick out, and require some modification to the back side of the device, as well as the carrying case. It usually makes my device too thick to use comfortably and so I usually just purchase several regular batteries.

When I started shopping for another battery for my Treo 700wx, I was pleasantly surprised to find a battery by Seidio that was exactly the same size as the stock battery but that provided 33% more usage. It was an extended battery that was the same size as the stock battery. I had never heard of such a thing. The reviews I read said the Seidio battery would be slightly heavier than the stock battery (which was a negative in my mind), but I decided to try it anyway.

I ordered the battery online and had it in 2 days. Just as the reviews had said, it was exactly the same size as my stock battery. I charged it in my Palm Treo cradle and popped it into my Treo. I was shocked at the performance. I could go over 2 days on a single charge with light to moderate usage. Heavy usage would probably only last a day, but it would be a full day into the late evening. It sure beat out my stock battery in a huge way. I'd love to say more interesting things about the battery, but it simply lasts longer. I used my camera a few times during the two days, surfed the Internet, and made a few calls. It handled all of my workload.

Since I have a Treo 700p and 700wx and they are exactly the same hardware, I did a blindfold test on the weight. Yes, I guessed right, but it was a close call. I then placed my 700wx on a postal scale with each battery in it so I could compare the weight. The difference was almost not noticeable. I'm not sure on the exact weight difference, but the Seidio extended battery couldn't be more than .5oz heavier according to my scale.

Don't sweat the weight or the price. The weight is not noticeable, and at $39.95 this battery is a "must have" for any Treo owner. I was so impressed with my battery that I bought one for my brother and my girlfriend and they love it! It is the best accessory for the Treo that you can buy, and it definitely gets the pdaBlast! Top Pick Award.
