Resco Explorer is a full featured file manager. There are so many features that I will surely not be able to list them all. I will highlight the features I thought were the most useful.

First of all, the Resco Explorer interface is so much like my regular PC that it really is a no brainer to use. I had to figure out what the toolbar buttons were, but that was not too hard. After that, I was off and running without a hitch. I especially like the refresh option and button that allows you to go up one level in the folder heiarchy. These are small features that make a huge difference for me. It's so easy to get around on my iPAQ now.

There are so many customizable view options that Resco will surely be able to show you what you want to see, in the way you want to see it. You can choose the columns to show, whether or not you want the split screen, advanced toobars, and more. You can arrange the icons automatically or by name, size, etc. It feels like your Windows PC.

I wanted desperately to be able to create "shortcuts" like on my desktop PC. I wanted to be able to have an icon in my Start Menu that would allow me to go directly to a specific place. No problem for Resco Explorer. Now I have separate shortcuts to my SD Card, and my music folder right on my Start Menu.

Another feature that I like about Resco is the encryption capabilities. You simply highlight a file until the popup menu appears and you can encrypt or decrypt a file. They use strong RC2 128-bit encryption so your files should be secure. I like to create a text file with important numbers in it and encrypt it. That's so much easier for me than getting a separate program to hold that information.

Resco handles file compression just as easily as file encryption. You simply highlight a file and wait for the popup menu and select compress. I especially like how you can click on a compressed file and Resco Explorer will show you the contents of the file in the bottom window.

Resco also has a fantastic Find utility that enables me to do searches of my iPAQ. Along with the Find utility is the System Info screen which is almost another program in itself. As you can see you can view all your important battery information.

Along with all of this is the Resco Registry application. Most of you will not want to edit your Registry but it might come in handy sometime. This again, is another separate application that you get with the Resco File Explorer.

A few other things I've failed to mention so far. The Network browser allows you to view files on your PC. You can map drives or other resources and move around them from your Pocket PC. This is very cool! Resco also includes an FTP application. Also, very cool!

If you have not tried Resco Explorer by now you really should give it a whirl. At $24.95 it is definitely worth the money. They make a version for Pocket PC and for Smartphone. It is among the best programs I've used for the Pocket PC platform and will only get better from here. This one definitely gets the pdaBlast! Top Pick Award. I can no longer live without my Resco Explorer. I'm sure they will improve on this version at some point, but right now I can't imagine what improvements they will make. It is well thought through and just brilliant!
