Handspring announced it has begun selling its Treo 270 phone/PDA through mobile operator T-Mobile USA. It seems that this is the path that Handspring will take with future devices as well. They are already offering the Treo 300 through Sprint PCS, and representatives from the company said they will continue to make specific devices for specific mobile carriers in the future.
The Treo 270 has dual-band 900/1900MHz GSM voice capability and GPRS for data transmission. The device includes a Web browser and supports e-mail and text messaging. It has a backlit QWERTY keyboard, 16MB of memory, and a 160-by-160-pixel color display.
T-Mobile is selling the device now for $399.99 after a $100 rebate, with activation of qualified voice or data services.
